Entertainment Edgar Allan Poe comes to N. Van NORTH VANCOUVER'S Cen- tennial Theatre will be presenting the Vancouver premiere of Poe — the ‘highly’ unusual life of Edgar A. from July § to 20, Based on the life of Edgar Allan Poe, the 19th century writer known for his morbid writings and poetry, the one-man, two act play was written by and stars actor/ playwright Brent Fidler. The play was first produced by the Manitoba Tueatre Centre in 1982, and has since enjoyed over 70 performances at regional theatres across Western Canada, playing to critical acclaim. The play takes the audience through a chronological series of experiences in Poe's life that Fidler says were the inspiration behind Poe's bizarre writings. “Poe wrote his work from sources of life about him," says Fidler. ‘tHe wrote from his own torment and sorrow, magnifying them into their creative forms. He was surrounded by the death of his loved ones. This constantly tore at his soul and is the central thread in my play."’ Curtain time for all shows is 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available at all VTC/CBO outlets, the North Vancouver Recreation Centre, or at the theatre door. Half price preview nights will be presented on July 3 and 4.
