Local players make All-Star teams

NINETEEN NORTH Shore girls
were recently chosen to attend
provincial All-Star selection soccer
camps in their various age groups.

From there, the provincial
under-I4 All-Star team has al-
ready been selected, which includes
eight North Shore players — the
largest number from any one
district.

Selected for the final provincial
Au-Star team was Leanne Byrom,
Sara Colfings, Lindsay Clerksen,
J.R. Payne, Nadia Pietramata, Liz
Phillips, Andrea Stamatakis and
Leanne Westie. Also invited to the
under-14 camp were Jordi Brown,
Kelly Donaldson, Andrea Leckie,
Carmen Turner and Jennifer
Walker. More remarkable is that
four of these girls — Clerkson,
Phillips, Donaldson and Leckie —
are only 13 years old and will be
cligible for this team next year as
well.

Seven of the girls selected to
camp are from the under-l4
Metro team, North Shore Ama-
zons, which hopes to win its
fourth straight Coastal Prentier
Cup Championship on the April
27th weekend and then g0 on to
defend its provincial title in June.

Although the final team selec-
tions have not yet been made,
Renee Brown and Lynn Wester-
man were invited to the under-16
camp and both are strong can-
didates for the provincial team.

NORTH SHORE Neighbourhood
House is offering spring drop-in
activities for people who are too

busy to commit themselves to
regularly scheduled sports.
Drop-in basketball is held

7:30-10:20 p.m. Mondays, drop-in
volleyball 7-9 p.m. Sundavs, and
badminton 8-10 p.m. Thursdays.

Volleyball and badminton cost a
$2.50 drop-in fee while basketball
Participants will require a house
membership.

To become a member of North
Shore Neighbourhood House,
participants pay an annual fee of
$9 for adults, $8 for teenagers,
and $16 for family memberships.
Annnual membership entitles each
member ¢(o participate in a
number of activities offered at the
house.

Centre holds
yoga classes

MARINA $Quilty-Peters, certified
yoga instructor and registered
Massage therapist, is teaching yo-
ga classes this spring at the North
Shore Women's Centre.

The classes ure being held
Tuesdays 10-11:30 a.m. and 7-8:30
p.m. at the women’s centre and
will run for the next eight weeks.
