Volleyball, soccer programs scheduled for kids

NORTH VANCOUVER RecCen-
tres are offering a variety of
volleyball and soccer progams this
winter for kids of all ages.

Taking place at Mickey
McDougall gym, the popular
volleyball drop-in programs ure
continuing with competitive
players meeting Tuesdays. inter-
mediates on Wednesdays and rec-
reational play on Thursdays, from
8:45 to 10:45 p.m.

Competitive and recreational
leagues operate on Sunday after-
noons for both free agents and

teams. Registration deadline and
team captains meeting is Jan. 16 at
7 p.m.

In addition, Beginner and ad-
vanced classes start Jan. 22.

indoor soccer programs are also
available this winter at) various
Jocations in the Lynn Valley and
Lynnmour areas.

Men’s indoor soccer is offered
Monday evenings at Westover
Community School. This two-hour
program runs for 10 weeks and
starts Jan. 15.

Preschool soccer programs are
already under way at Sevlynn Rec-
Teation Centre.

Beginner and advanced pro-
grams are available for four and
five-year-olds, Children will learn
basic soccer skills with the em-
phasis on social interaction and
fun.

Parents are invited to take part
in a soccer program for two and
three-year-olds at Seylynn Recre-
ation Centre on Wednesday morn-
ings.

School age children can also

participate in Seylynn's soccer
skills program offered Wednesday
after school.

winter programs

REGISTER NOW for winter recreation programs being offered by the
North Shore Neighbourhood House.

For school-age children, there's karate, Jazzercise or drop-in sports.

For adults, there’s belly, ballroom, Latin, jive and night club dancing.
Other programs include bridge, yoga, fitness, karate, badminton and tai
chi.

Many workshops are being offered including adult wellness, financial
lectures and legal education lectures,

For those 55 years and older, the neighbourhood house holds bus trips,
mini trips, special events, exercise programs, the Hot Lunch Cafe and
home visiting.

The North Shore Neighbourhood House is a non-profit, United Way
agency. Lcoal residents are encouraged to become involved through vol-
unteering.
