Dear Editor:

On behalf of the parents of the
Seycove Secondary School grads, I
would like to extend corgratula-
tions to all the students who sup-

portéd the first alcohol free after-

grad party held in Deep Cove.

Grad parties have become a
thing. to fear. Usually, parents
worry about underage drinking
and the probability of drinking
and driving.

With these concerns in mind, the
Seycove student grad committee
worked with the parents grad
committee to plan the. festivities
which followed immediately after
the grad dinner/dance held at the
Hotel Vancouver.

Weeks were spent planning and

preparing for a casino night with

lots of food, music and: door

prizes. The focus was to provide a
safe environment for the students
to revel in the celebrations of
friendships that have often lasted
since school began, the camarade-
rie of shared achievements 2nd the
pure joy of having made it through
the last 12 years of schooling.

You really have ‘to have a
responsible grad class to have a dry
grad. Some students still prefer to
drink while partying — it seems to
be thethingtodo.  .

Thank you, Seycove grads for
supporting the parent. committee,
for being responsible, for being the
great kids that you are, and for
having a good time in spite of your
reservations. .
