PgR Rag ner ee Fines given for drunk driving A 30-YEAR-old West Vancouver woman was fined $325 for im- paired driving and $375 for breathalyser refusal May 11 in West Vancouver provincial court, following a Sept. 9 spree that saw one woman sent to hospital and $14,000 total damage to two cars and a West Vancouver Blue Bus. A West Vancouver Police spokesperson said Mary Ellen Breckenridge was followed Sept. 9 by a motorist who had observed an ’82 Oldsmobile driven by Breckenridge swerving lane to lane on Davie Street in Vancouver. The witness followed the Olds down Denman, on to Georgia and north over the Lions Gate Bridge. The Olds clipped the front of a Blue Bus heading south across the bridge, causing the bus to stop abruptly. A Honda Civic, driv- ing behind the bus, slammed into the back of the bus. The woman driving the Honda suffered lacerations to her face and was treated at St. Paul’s Hospital. , The saspect vehicle continued on. The left front tire of the car feil off after the car turned north on Taylor Way. The car came to astop on Clyde and police were cslled. $12.8m slated for W. Van roads WEST VANCOUVER-Howe Sound MLA Jchn Reynolds bas an- nounced highway improvement projects worth $12.8 roillion for the West Vancouver-Howe Sound area. Reynolds made the announcement in conjunction with the release of a $566 million highways ministry program of capital and | higkway improvement projects all over the province. Van APPROXIMATELY 10,000 North Vancouver residents were without power for up to two hours Wednesday afternoon after a downed tree at Evergreen Place and Delbrook Avenue knocked out a major electrical circuit at B.C. Hydro’s Capilano power substa- tion. at 11:52 a.m. B.C. Hydro spokesman Peter McMullan said the tree knocked out one circuit, which then caused seven other circuits to fail. In addition to the jail term, Salzborn was placed on probation for three menths and had his driver’s licence suspended for one year.
