FOR 1989 Hyunua: introduces a new sedan into the
Canadian market, the Sonata.

The most advanced and largest automobile ever of-
fered by Hyundai in Canada, the Sonata will be posi-
tioned in the expanding family-sized car segment. This
will add significantly to Hyundai Auto Canada’s
market share in the industry. In 1988 Hyundai was
competing only in the subcompact market.

As with all Hyundai vehicles, the front-wheel drive,
five-passenger Sonata comes equipped with many
standard features. Included in this list is a 2.4 litre
multi point fuel injected engine, tilt collapsible steer-
ing column, power steering and Michelin all-season
steel belted zadial tires.

The Sonata is available in two trim levels, GL and
GLS. The luxurious GLS sports many added features

such as power windows, power controlled remote dual
outside mirrors, aluminum alloy wheels, storage
pockets behind the front seats, and 60/40 split fold
down rear seats for access to the trunk.

A five-speed manual transmission is standard on the
Sonata. There is also an optional four speed ELC
(electronic control) automatic transmission with
overdrive. Other options available are factory install-
ed air conditioning, cruise conirol and power sun roof
(sliding and rear tilting).

The Sonata, with its many features, spacious inte-
rior, and a price ranging from $12,990 to $15,490 of-
fers value conscious consumers an alternative to more
expensive luxury cars.

Commencing January of 1989 Hyundai Auto
Canada’s manufacturing plan: in Bromont, Quebec
will produce Sonata for the Canadian market.
