The electricity will arc across to the tree or branch, but if it is too large, it will not ourn off. The resultant heat or weight of limb or tree may result in the cable actually breaking. Even if it does not the branch or tree will be energized with electricity. If you have a branch or tree fall on these power lines during the winter, phone B.C. Hydro and your local police department right away. Do not allow anyone to go anywhere near the tree or the lines. (The police will help with this). Do not attempt to remove a branch or tree from a power line. Just stay well clear. This also ap- plies in the case of a broken line or a line down on the ground. In all likelihood, the B.C. Hydro fusing system has cut the power off, but, don’t take a chance. If a orimary line is down on the ground or hanging, don’t even walk near t.
