' A8 - Sunday, August 19, 1984 - North Shore News No sweetheart, lona EAR VOTERS OF NORTH VAN- BURNABY: These old eyes rolled with pleasure when | heard that the Campagnolo woman 1s running a poor second to Chuck Cook in your riding. Not that I’m crazy about Chuck’s party. It’s not Tory enough for me. But the thought of the Liberals’ sweetheart being elected was giving me the collywobbles. If she had her way, that crazy North Shore Women’s Centre would have its $21,000 federal grant quadrupled, and the crew on the Marxist-Lesbian News, otherwise known as_ the Status of Women’s so-called newspaper Kinesis, would get indexed pensions. As in all elections, flim- flam is being peddled on a massive scale. Anyone would think, for instance that it’ll make some difference to unemployment if one lot gets in rather than the other. It won’t. And they’ll both keep the deficit going. Depend upon it. So you have to look for other things that matter. And that’s where Cam- pagnolo comes in. Did you hate Trudeau’s guts? If so, bear in mind that this woman was a Trudeau loyalist. The jerk who ruined the country was Her Boy. She thinks he was bigger than Churchill, Roosevelt and Jesus Christ rolled into one, and slavishly supported everything he ever said or did. Not that she’s talking about Wonder Boy right now. No Liberal is, for ob- vious reasons. But they can no more get him off their shoulders than John Silver 4 seater Sports © oupe Astral Silver Metall blue leather Blue 1976 300D Fine example of Mercedes Benz quality. Were you in favor of flooding the coutry§ with refugees from South East Asia? Eighty per cent of British Columbians weren't. De get this stral ht by Doug Collins But Campagnolo was and still is. Not only that, but she wanted Ottawa to set up a huge central sanitorium for tubercular refugees who wouldn’t otherwise be abie to get in, and wrote to the minister of immigration to that effect. Three thousand was the number she had in mind, I believe. Even the idiotic Lloyd Axworthy couldn't go for that. Campagnolo is in fact a lobbyist for the Third World. That doesn’t figure in her Campaign literature, of course, because she knows that most of you don’t give a damn about the Third World, having enough wor- ries Of your own. But if Ottawa doubled the two billion bucks we're already putting down the foreign aid drain she’d be ecstatic. So keen is she on such lunacy that when her lack-lustre CBC-TV inter- view program ended in 1981 she roamed the globe for aid groups and was a consultant to that notorious money- waster the Canadian Interna- tional Development Agency, among others. Think of anything you don’t like, from French on the cornflake boxes to metric, and the woman is for it. In spades. An example of her non- existent reasoning powers is her big solution for the world’s nuclear woes: a nuclear freeze, no _ less. Which is right in line with Pauline Jewettry, unilateral disarmament and other anti- defence crap. Even John Turner gave her the quick bum's rush when that amaz- ing news reached him. But it fitted with the bosh peddled by the Left, of which she is a member. She would be right at home with Ed Broadbent. Old Allan MacEachen, now gone to the Senate heaven, nailed that sort of nonsense last December. The idea of a nuclear freeze, he said, was ‘‘a half-baked idea that won’t stand the test of time and will give the Soviet Union a perpetual edge in Europe.’’ Think of anything that’s ‘‘progressive’’, and Cam- MERCEDES-BENZ CANADA INC. 984-935] 1979 SLC navy NCCNOL Ll owner Sum roo Sun root windows S speed | Turbo-Diesel Luxury Sedan Silver Blue Metallic - navy blue leather.
