WEST VANCOUVER cyclist Brent Mudry came first in one event in the Western Olympic Track Cycling trials and second in another in the race to qualify for Canada’s Olympic Cycling Team which will Ow Bravo’s Pizza Rowdymen are rolling towards ball hockey playoffs. Last Sun- day at the Rec Centre, they won their third game in a row and their fourth in five games. This puts the Rowdies one point out of second place and with the tough part of their schedule over, they have a good chance to end in second in the race for a top finishing compete in the summer games in Los Angeles. Mudry won 66 points ina 30 kilometre points race, beating second place cyclist Louis Riel of Winnipeg by 22 points. In the four kilometre Individual Pursuit, Mudry was second with a qualifying time of 5:11:94, while first place went to Gary,//Altwasser of Calgary who had a qualifying time of 5:09:47. The trials were held at the Glenmore Velodrome in Calgary June 10. The top three competitors from this event will meet the top three from the Eastern trials in the final selections June 22 to 24 in Edmonton. This week Mudry is at training camp. ymen on a roll spot in the W.B.H.L. The Bravo’s Rowdymen have been getting top goaltending from Glen Vanas and Kevin Sorenson. Last year’s goal scoring feader Blair Hiddleston has also been on a roll with 12 points in the last four games, taking over top spot in the scoring race followed closely by Rowdymen teammates Tony McKusker and Bob Emanuelle. The Bravo Pizza Rowdymen are the highest scoring team in the Western Ball Hockey League and have started to work on their goals against. Top defensive pair Ken Charles and Dale Stackowski have the best plus/minus on the team and possibly the league.
