Landski explained that the astro turf greens will give golfers a more defined and lifelike target to aim for. . “The problem with grass greens on driving ranges is that they get cut the same time as the fairways so the grass is usually the same height and color on both,’’ the designer said. ‘‘With astro turf, you get a different color which defines the green, and the bounce and bite of the ball is closer to a real course situation.” The Park Royal range will also have three pros on site: Mark Ludeman, SFU’s Jack Westover, and former Seymour pro Mel White. The facility will also boast a pro shop, restaurant and coffee shop. A possible fourth driving range on the North Shore could be a re- ality in the future if the proposed Northlands Development goes ahead with plans for a driving range. Regardless, with 220 available tees on the North Shore to perfect that swing, the number of excuses for burying your tee-off in that clump of evergreens on the left are becoming fewer and fewer.
