Caulfeild meeting THE CAULFEILD Ratepayers Asscciation has sched- uled a public meeting for 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, to ‘discuss development issues in the Caulfeild Plateau area. Last week the association applied to iatervene in a B.C. Supreme Court case in which Martin Corporation Ltd., a Caulfeild Plateau developer, is secking a court order exempting it from West Vanconver official com- munity plan bylaws dealing with the hazards of devel- opment on steep slopes. According to the asseciation, the developer is claiming that a Jand-use contract entered into in the mid-1970s prehibits the municipality from regulating steep-slepe development. The association is supporting the ~ municipality’s: position that such regulation is necessary and lawful. Said ratepayers association president Victor Durman, “The Coulfeiid Plateau Jands yet to be developed contain some of the steepest terrain in the municipality, In some areas there are 40-foot sheer cliffs.”’ The meeting will take place at the Caulfeild elementary school, 4685 Keith Rd. in West Vancouver.
