The seal pup slaughter, Canada’s great shame, |

starts again about March 12th. The Conservative
Minister of Fisheries, a Newfoundlander, has

announced that it will continue ‘as usual

.' The

governments position, Liberal or Conservative, is
that the herds are actually increasing in size. This
flies in the face of much circumstantial evidence,
but proof either way is. hard to obtain as the
government has discontinued iis aerial infra-red
surveys, the only good way to count the seals.

All studies of the situation
appear to be done by vested
interests; and have been
challenged. by many. in-
dependents. Their efforts
have been labelled as ‘ob-
structtonist'—by -— the
Department of Fisheries.

Bob Hunter's bright, new
and readable chronicle of
the Greenpeace Foundation,
“Warriors of thé Rainbow”,
