The committee made its deci- sion Thursday on the 36-hectare (90-acre) cutblock after touring the area. The cutblock was selected by watershed staff on the basis of an independent ecological consul- tant’s report. The report stated that the cutblock had a moderate to high fire risk complicated by some hemlock trees being infected by the dwarf mistletoe pest.
