Pierre Coupey, ane of the 12 artists participating in the project, has been living and working on the North Shore for more than 20 years. Born in Montreal in 1942, Coupey. studied English and tre- “ative writing at McGill University. He went on to study drawing ° - and printmaking, at the Académie Julian and Atelicr 17 in Paris. :‘s:, Coupey completed a master of arts in English and creative writing at UBC and has been an instructor in the English - department at Capilano College since 1970. _He is also a member of the Art Institute at Capilano College where he received a certificate in printmaking in 1992. Coupey . has won numerous awards for both . the founding editor of ‘The Capilano Review and a founding co- _. editor of The Georgia Straight. He has spent a lot of time at the Jocation and says “It’s a beautiful place. One of the things I really like about it is it just gives you a special vantage point to the water. You really can feel close and when we have those storms, it’s one of the first places that I go to.
