Scott McArthur. Hanging
five or maybe 10 — whatev-
er, man — it’s pretty good
style for a restaurant rookie.

What was The End is
now the beginning for Scott
and his sister Sian, who
opened their Raglar s Bistro
on Oct. 28 after the End
closed on Sept. 2.

The End’s former beatnik
bistro noir motif has given
way to a cheerier ambience
that reflects McArthur’s dis-
position and his enthusiasm
for surfing.

The restaurant, tor exam-
ple, takes its name from a
New Zealand town famed for
its surf.

MeArthur’s place is not far
trom the water — a bit dis-
tant, however, from any
meaningful wave action, but
that’ s not the point at this

The End was founded
back in January 1995 by
Andrew Harris and Jodie

Graham. It was later taken

over by Jacquie Butler, the
wife of Chesa restaurant chef
Andy Butler.

It had its attractions, one
of which was the oddball
