be designed to liquefy up to 16
million cubic feet cf gas per

feet of gas could be stored at

The site is located approxi-
mately 7.5 kilometres inland
from Howe Sound, 20 kilome-
tres away from Lions Bay and
approximately 30 kilometres
from Sunset Beach in West
Vancouver.

Westcoast would like to
begin construction this year
and start operations by the
summer of 2000.

Plans call for the facility to
sit on a 24-hectare parcel of
land. The storage tank will be
74 metres wide and 52 metres
tall.

when the federal competition
tribunal will make a decision
on Seaspan’s latest request.
Seaspan had hoped to get a
decision by January, but an ice
storm knocked out power in
the tribunal’s Hull, Quebec,
offices, said Fowlis.
