beautiful plantings we already
have?

The police block's garden is
scruffy — likewise the narrow
planting beside Safeway.

On the south side the path west
of the medical building goes
through weed-infested garden.

Turn up Lonsdale — the garden
patch. at the southeast corner of
(4th is weed- and gar-
bage-infested,

Walk westward along 14th. The
south side with the library and ci-
ty hall is beautiful.

The north side “has
glory climbing the
shrubs and-the garden on
street side of 160 West l4th
totally overgrown.

Underneath are glimpses of
beautiful original plantings. Mow-
ing the grass is the sum-total
maintenance some of these
apartment owners undertake,

It is sad to see such neglect.
What is the price of investing
money in expensive landscaping
and then neglecting it?

Dear Editor:

Tam very appreciative of your
story about Dr. Dwight Peretz
(‘Top doc,’’ May 30).

May I add a short story?

Four years ago I had a very bad
angina. I was running out of
breath climbing a single fight of
stairs.

My family doctor sent me to see
Dr. Peretz. It was decided that I
should undergo the angioplasty.

During this relatively new
method the patient is awake ai!
the time and even watching on the
screen the progress of unplugging
the artery.
