Don’t let fridge
get out of hand

ONE OF the most depressing jobs around the house
(especially in mid-summer) is cleaning the refrigerator.

I postponed the job as long as !
could but finally — urged on by a
certain odor — did it. The odor
came from half a shrimp sand-
wich, neatly wrapped in Saran,
wedged behind a jar of pickles.
Have you any of those ‘*misplaced
objects?"’

However, some good came out
of my seek-and-destroy mission.

Since then I’ve reverted to an
old habit — one you should con-
sider. Instead of cleaning the
whole fridge in one foul swoop.

You'll love it because it’s so easy.

VH give you the recipe in the
quantities I prepared —
temember, I was using leftovers.

This served two generously,
with enough left for one of our
daughters who dropped in and
wanted to test the creation. | ate
the last spoonful before I went to
bed — wonder why I don't seem
to lose those 15 pounds I ought
to?

German-style Potato Salad
6 ~ 1%-inch nugget potatoes (or
equivalent of ‘“‘new’’ poutatoes)
boiled in their jackets
100 gm. Montreal Style deli corn-
ed beef (That's approximate! I'd
bought 200 gm the night before
and made Brian a sandwich - what
was left joined the potatoes)
3 green onions
¥ cup real mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
cracked pepper

Coarsely chop the potatoes,
skins and all. Cut up the corned
beef and dice the green onions.

Mix the mayo with the mustard
and add to the rest of the ingre-
dients. Grind pepper over and stir
to blend.

I did this just before dinner so
the salad was quite warm. It was
equally good, several hours later
when I pulled the fas: spoonful
out of the refrigerator.

eggs, chopping all sorts of veggies

of work! Try this one.
