What is a Sports Pool?

It's a game in which winners are
determined by the outcome of a number of
specified sporting events. It's a pool, so prize
amounts are determined by how many

people play.
A Sports Pool is different
from a lottery!

It's different because the outcome 1s
determined by actual sporting events, rather
than by the random chance offered by
bouncing balls.

In late 1983, Parliament passed the
bill that enabled the Canadian Sports Poo!
Corporation to introduce a sports pool

The Bill was passed so that much needed
funding Could be provided for the 1988 Winter
Olympics in Calgary and other worthy Causes,
The Federal Government ts not Contravening
the 1979 Agreement with the Provinces an
agreement which leaves the 17 Billhon dollar
lottery business to prowincial purmsaietions

Where the money goes.

Funds earned by The Canadian Sports
Pool Corporation will support the 1988 Winter
Olympics in Calgary, fitness and amateur sport,
arts and culture, and medical and health research.

A sportsmanlike idea.

It’s an idea that makes sense. The Sports
Pool supports the unpaid efforts of our
Striving athletes. by raising money with
sports pools based on the highly publicized
results of professional games.

It's not a new concept. Most Canadians
have, at one time or another, been participants
Ia pool for fun, at work or elsewhere.

Sports Pools are already
successful throughout
the world!
