The woman called RCMP in Burnaby Monday after her suspicions were raised by a U-Haul she saw. It was found the truck had been Stolen from the U-Haul depot on Main Street in North Vancouver’ by someone who had retrieved the keys after the person the truck had been rented to had dropped them through the mailbox of the depot upon returning the truck. RCMP officers from North Van went to Burnaby and followed the truck to a marine equipment business in Vancouver. When they checked inside the truck they found at Jeast $20;000 worth of marine equipment which had been stolen from the federal fisheries building on Welch Street in North Van. RCMP say the haul in- cluded expensive items such as a boat motor and un- derwater video camera and they allege the intention was to sell it to the Vancouver marine business. Charged with break and entry and theft, as well as possession of — stolen property, are Christopher Michael Seymour, aged 25, of 101-135 East 20th Street, in North Vancouver, and Peter Lawrence Smythe, 20, of 503-170 East Keith Road, North Van. RCMP believe other people were invoived in the offences and are continuing their investigations. A detective spokesman called the case a prime example of citizen par- ticipation paying off in the police’s Neighborhood Watch program. “If the public open their eyes and call us when they see something suspicious, it gets results,” he said. Robbers took delivery car A PAIR wanted in North Vancouver in connection with the robbery of a pizza delivery driver were later picked up and arrested in Blaine, Washington. The North Van robbery occurred early Sunday morning wher a driver for Picasso's Pizza was held up by two men who not only took $150 cash but also took his car — and the victim — with them. The driver was released about 1% hours later, in a West Vancouver park, although the robbers kept his delivery car. Two men were tater arrested in Blaine as a result of a theft incident there and were traced, by being connected with the stolen car, to the North Van robbery. They face charges in Blaine and will later be returned to North Van to be charged with robbery, unlawful confinement and theft over $200.
