(Elsworth Dickson photo) OTTAWA (UPC) - Canada’s labor movement must close ranks as a “family” and maintain its political role if it is to deal with the Canadian Labor Congress president Dennis McDermott said Monday. In his annual Labor Day message to the 2.3 million CLC members, ,fcDermott called one all Canadian workers to support the ef- forts of Ed Broadbent and the New Democratic Party and work toward collective action against the powers in the corporate board rooms. “The nature of our economics has changed,” McDermotu said. “The tycoon is now replaced by the corporate board, the faclory 1s now a conglomerate and = the company ts now a multinational.” “It is only normal that we adjust ourselves to these new realities through collective action,” the labor leader said.
