She was running up Capilano Road and to Ridgewood when a man snatched her and pulled her into the bushes. Police say the man kissed her and “stuck his tongue in her mouth.” The assailant had a tongue ring. The woman siarted to scream and the assailant put his hand over her mouth. She managed to move his hand away and scream again. They then ran off in opposite directions. The assailant told the woman to “shut up” during the incident. He is described as Caucasian, clean-cut, age 25, 1.83 metres ( 6 ft.) with dirty blond straight hair. He was thin to average build. CHILD (Children Happily Inquiring Learning Developing) was launched this fall at three West Vancouver elementary schools: West Bay, Chartwell, and Pauline Johnson. The program is a continuation of morning Kindergarten operating as 2 private service outside the jurisdiction of the edu- cation nunistry. Parents pay $350 a month for their children to stay for the afternoon session five days a week. Some children attend three days per week. CHILD was launched in part as a response to fears thar West Vancouver was losing its students to private schools. The North Shore’s two independent schools both offer a_ full-day Kindergarten curriculum. The West Vancouver Teacher’: opposed to the introduction of a public school system.
