WV dog walk upgrading urged WEST VANCOUVER dog owners will be asked to contribute to the updating of the ‘Dovgie Walk" be- tween 19th and 24th Streets adjacent to the Ambleside Seawall. A letter requesting donations will be included with the yearly dog licence application mailed from the district's Permits and Licence Department. The letter has been drafted by Marie Moscovitch of widening of the trail, elimination of blackberry bushes and removal of large rocks, plus the addition of a drinking fountain for the dogs. “The thorns and many rocks are making it difficult for our dogs," said Moscovitch, who had to appear before West Vancouver Council for permission to add her letter to the district mailing. NORTH SHORE Home Support Services wants help in collecting toys for workers to take with them when they go on their visits to local low-income families. And so far, all but one letter to 13. local toy stores has gone unanswered, Barbara Miller explained that most of the people the organiza- tion’s workers visit are usually single mothers who get no support from husbands or family. Toys brought to the home when the worker visits help ease the ten- sion a little bit, said Miller, who notes she only has about about two small boxes of toys. “Depending on the response we will either leave them (at the homes) or make up kits that the workers can bring and then take (away with them),’’ she said. The.toys do not have to be new, but Miller does not want broken playthings. “If it’s a game missing half the pieces it’s not much good,’’ she said. Right now, Miller said, the organization’s support workers will bring the toys for children to play with and then take them away when leaving the home. “If there are enough we would like to leave some things behind,” she said.
