sales figures for August 1996
were typically slower during
the late summer but vear to
date figures in all categories
continued to show gains.

_ There were 2,047
detached, attached and apart-
ment sales in August
throughout the Lower
Mainland for an 8% decline
over the same month last
year. Sales for the year to
date, however, improved 22%
over the same time period in
1995.

“Sales for August were
typical for this time of year in
most categories,” said Glenn
Temes, vice-president of the
Board. “Sales in the
$150,000 to $249,999 range
continue to outpace ail others
suggesting that first time buy-
ers are still entering the mar-
ket as interest rates continue
to drop and consumer confi-
dence gains strength.” : ce
