neering excellence recognized the
work of two local engineering
firms.

Kerr Wood Leidal Associates
Ltd. won an award of merit for their
work on the Metlakatha Water
Treatment Plant in the category of
infrastructure engincering.

Five years of research and devel-
opment into alternative water treat-
ment methods has identified a com-
bination of processes that is effec-
tive, yet requires no electro-
mechanical equipment.

The. culmination of the research
is the plant in Metlakatla, 7 kilome-
tres (4.5 mi.) east of Prince Rupert.
