Miss North Shore 1988 Tara Paat passes on the Miiss North Shore crown for the coming year. Vincent-Lambert will be going to the PNE Pageant August 13-22. Miss North Shore on her way to the PNE pageant WHEN LEIGH Vincent-Lambert heard her name announced for Miss North Shore 1989-90, her first thought was ‘‘uh-oh.”’ By ELIZABETH COLLINGS News Reporter Uh-oh as in ‘‘How am I going to find time for it?’’, Vincent- Lambert said. But her second thought must have been to cast her question aside because she is not one to step down from a challenge. “I’ve always wanted to just col- lect as much experience as possi- ble,’’ Vincent-Lambert said. She says her mother calls her an ‘‘ostopus,’’ because she has a foot in every door. Vincent-Lambert admits she has been glowing all week since she won the pageant. “God, will you just look at her. She’s just come out of the gate. She’s so excited,”’said pageant president Gertie ‘Todd of her Number One Girl. Todd describes Vincent-Lambert as a ‘‘quality girl, not a quantity girl,’’ and indeéd this 19-year-old from North Vancouver lives up to this with every inch of her 5 foot 10 frame. She has had modelling experi- ence with the Charies Stuart Agen- cy, and Modea Modelling, who fielded a $600 modelling course for the winner, had already expressed interest in Vincent-Lambert regardless of whether she won the crown. Vincent-Lambert says she prefers fashion shows and ramp work to photography because she likes an audience and the at- mosphere. “I get a high out of that.”’ Being in the spotlight is high on Vincent-Lambert’s list. She has graced the North Shore News as a Sunshine Girl five times including the New Year’s issue and acted as head mermaid on the News’ an- nual sail race for the past two years. Acting is 2 part-time intercst of Vincent-Lambert’s. She has been an extra on 21 Jump Street, Un- sub, Wiseguy and Secret Lives -- “That was my first paid assign- ment,’’ she said of the latter. Other items on her varied resume include lifeguard, waitress and recreational leade. So why did the girl-next-door want to enter the pageant? “J just thought it was neat.” Vincent-Lambert said she’s had her eye on the crown for three years, but this year she felt she had the confidence and time to ‘‘go for it.” The first time her sponsor Capilano Mall saw her she was dressed in a clown suit on another part-time job as a clown at the mall’s third anniversary.
