But take heart those of groggy morning minds who yearn for something special to celebrate the advent of another weekend, De Dutch Pannekoek House has a pannekoek for every occasion and every appetite. De House affixed itself to the recently overhauled Grouse Inn Motel in January and has been serving wayward tourists and area residents ever since. Two minor problems will im- mediately confound the uninitiated pannekoek gobbler, especially on slow-motion Saturday mornings. First, is how to pronounce pan- nekoek. Is it paneycake? or, as my wife would have it, pain-eh-coke? Second, is how to eat a pan- nekoek, considering that they are the size of small table cloths. ‘ ' A waitress will help solve both dilemmas. Acceptable pronunciation _re- quires diligent repetition, which is preferably done at home. Proficient pannekoek consump- tion requires. loading its mid-sec- tion with your chosen topping, which in my case was a pleasant blackberry preserve, then rolling the whole works ip like a small carpet.
