All Star League action at Thunderbird Lanes. After 11 straight strikes, a four-pin stood up to rob Vinters of the perfect game, but he scored a terrific 299 game. Vinters has rolled two perfect games in his eight-year bowling ca- reer. Curtis Kruschel was also in fine form in the All Star League with four games of 226, 248, 20! and 236 for a 91} total. The Ladies’ ‘600 Club Tourna- ment’ was held at Thunderbird Lanes on Sept. 27 and 28. Three North Shore ladies, Patti Ganshirt, Isobel and Doreen Mc- Coleman took first place in the trio handicap team event with a 1,840 total for three games. The team received a $135 cash award for its first place finish. The second place team included Phyl Higgs from Burnaby, Wynn Jarvis from Vancouver and Elsie Sohnson from Coquitlam. The trio finished with a three-game handi- cap series of 1,829. Pat Clarke from Vancouver and Duncan’s Evelyn Alberts and Sharon O'Reilly made up the third place team with an 1,826 handicap’ total. Kathie MacPherson from North Vancouver bowled a 687, including handicap, to take home $63 as the first-place prize in the singles event. Second place went to Sandra Chadwick of North Vancouver as she bowled a 653 including handi- cap. Mary Wallace from Burnaby bowled a handicap total of 636 to come in third place. The highest scratch three game total of 616 was bowled by North Vancouver’s Tracy Noble who had games of 152, 253 and 211. Noble continued her hot streak Monday night when she bowled in the Lions Gate Ladies Trio on Lions Gate Lanes. GINO SFRADIOTTI shot an im- pressive 80 to win the third annual David Lepkey Invitational Goif Tournament at Mylora Golf Course. Stradiotti. overcame first-round leader Georgie Walker, then held off a determined challenge from Brent Kapler to record a narrow one-stroke victory. Defending champion Susan Townsend finished fourth while North Vancouver's Dave Lepkey and Alan Coan placed fifth and sixth respectively. Jan Crock posted games of 207, 217, 234 and 166 for an 80! total, while Lorraine Craik and Don Zerkee bowled a four-game series of 1.804, Albert Yu and Clarence Queilette bowled the second high four-game total of 1,796. Myrna Landis bowled a 205 game that put her and her partner Brenda Jones in third place for the high series total of 1,768. In other action, Chadwick bowled a 210 and a 224 games in the Neates’ Coffee Doubles com- petition and finished with a total of 800 for four games. In the Youth Program at Lions Gate Lanes the senior bowler of the week was Rony Prananto who bowled a 164. With the score, which was 43 pins over his average, Prananto was named Bowler of the Week. Elsewhere, Bernie Young rolled a high single game of 142 and Michelle Byrom had a 134 game. Four-year-old Tommy Brock, in pursuit of his older team-mates, rolled a single game of SC. At Thunderbird Lanes, Adam Knight had a triplicate 109 in the Youth Program. Bowling in the Serior Division, Kerri Thorburn had a 585 in a three-game series witli scores of 172, 203 and 210. - The men’s Western Bowlers Association held its first tourna- ment of the year at Town 'n Coun- try Lanes on Sept. 28. The 72 bowlers rolled four qual- ifying games and North Van- couver’s Mark Innes emerged as the high qualifier with an 824 total. The field of bowlers was cut to 16 men who then competed in a four-game head-to-head match- play round. The three top men then met in a sudden death play-off. Brock bowled a 225 game to eliminate Norm Stavenes and went on to win first place in the tour- namem by bowling a 203 game against lan McPherson's 190. LI.
