22 - Wednesday, April 1, 1987 - North Shore News Sports -~ Winter Club to host national tennis tourney THE FINEST young Canadian tennis players will te in North Vancouver when the North Shore Winter Club hosts the April 8 to 12 Chipwich Junior Nationals Under-14 indoor championships. The tournament will feature the top 24 boys and 16 girls in under- 14 singles and doubles competi- tions, and will be the first time the Canadian under-14 indoor cham- pionships have been held in British Columbia. The Chipwich Junior National format also provides for a feed-ir consolation event and matches fo: third place. The under-14 indoor tennis championships will be the second of five tournaments to be played as part of the Chipwich Junior Na. tionals event program in 1987. The Chipwich Junior National: Under-i8 indoor tennis champion- ships will be held April 1 to 5 ai Club Tennisport in Quebec City. The sites and dates for the three outdoor championships to follow — the under-14 outdoor champi- onships, the under-16 to under-1 outdoor championships and the Chipwich Junior International — have not yet been announced. Last year, Club Sanisport ir Boucherville, Quebec was the host site. Westminster over the March21 weekend. Competing at the national novice level, Hutchins won the silver on trampoline, silver in syn- chronized trampoline and bronze in the double-mini event. Saunders competed at the junior national level and brought home the bronze in the synchronized trampoline event. Hutchins will defend her 1986 all-around title in trampoline and power tumbling at Western Cana- dian Championships in Coquitlam in April, Both girls will then travel to Ca- nadian championships in Winnipeg in May.
