Falling boulder
killed sunbather

A TRAGIC quirk of coin-
cidence claimed the life of a
woman sunbathing in Lynn
Canyon park Friday.

The 19-year-old woman
was lying at the edge of 90-
Foot Pool, just north of the
suspension bridge, with a
friend when a 200-pound
boulder rolled down from
the side of the canyon and
crushed her.

Jacquelyn Angela
Whittacker, of 503 East
Braemar, North Vancouver,
had been lying asleep at the
pool edge with a female
companion.

Her fmend nudged her
awake just as the boulder
landed, although the fnend
managed to get out of the
way when she heard the
rumbling of the approaching
boulder.
