Health care on the North Shore is seriously threatened
as anti-choice groups (‘‘Pro-Life’’) continue their ef-
forts to control Lions Gate Hospital.

e They aim to change hospital policy and deny women
their right to therapeutic abortion under any cir-
cumstance — even in a case of rape or incest....

e They are also opposed to contraception and sex
education. At Surrey Memorial Hospital, not only did
the Board disband the abortion committee, it axed a
proposed adolescent sex education program.

There is more. Because of the chaos caused by this
group in Surrey, the B.C. government may have to
intervene in the democratic process. Another freedom
at risk.

Hospital directors must act responsibly, putting the
needs of the community before their personal in-
terests. Defend the right to choose. Join the North and
West Vancouver Hospital Society before August 1st
and vote Pro-Choice on September 2nd. Send $5 to
