Fire damges NY home

FIRE DAMAGED a
single-storey wood frame
house in North Vancouver
City on Nov. 23.

North Vancouver City Fire
Department firefighters were call-
ed to 209 East {8th St. at approx-
imately 11:30 a.m.

According to a fire department
spokesman, the fire started in a
bedroom and spread down a hall
before it was extinguished.

An occupant of the home was

working in a garage when he
noticed the lights went out.

He investigated and saw flames
coming from the bedroom win-
dow. He then called the fire
department from a neighbor's
house.

Two cats living with the occu-
pants of the home escaped
without injury.

The fire caused heavy smoke
damage throughout the house.

The cause of the fire is under
investigation.

(BPAHA) presented various
awards to area residents for
community service awards at
its Nov. 25 annual general
meeting.

The BPAHA community
service awards were presented
to John Blaine, who is involved

Program, and former West

Vancouver alderman Boby
Wykham.

The ‘good neighbor award”
went to Sinaida Harm, who
planted and nurtured a display

of flowers on public land.

“She has set an example of
what one person can do to give
pleasure to many,'' said
BPAHA director Gloria Black,
in making the presentation.
