Moodie to attend Monday night’s WV board meeting From page 1 Furk pointed out that the Moodie report determined that the WVSB could generate a net lot- sale revenue of $11,500,000 and that the cost of building a new Caulfeild school would be $13,048,200, which would Icave a $1,548,200 deficit. But Player said he has a letter from the provincial government saying District 45 will not have to pay any financing charges for three years while building the new middle school. In her report, Furk said the current capacity of District 45's three high schools is 3,300 stu- dents, with Hillside’s capacity at approximately 1,200. The proposed capacity of the Caulfeild Plateau school is 750 students. “Therefore, after construction of the proposed school, the total available capacity would be reduced by 450 to 2,850 stu- dents,"’ said Furk. She added that if the WVSB decides to keep Hillside, there would be adequate student capaci- ty beyond the year 2000. But Player said Furk is wrong. “She has errors in capacity. She’s stretching things here. This trustee does not have her facts straight,’’ said Player. ‘‘We have to add on. We will run out of space by the year 2000 even if we did keep Hillside so, again, she is wrong.”" The Moodie report states that while the short-term year-to-year real estate markets tend to be er- ratic, the 10-year trend shows an average West Vancouver lot value increase of about 11% per annum. But Furk said the school board should not take a risk with pro- jected real estate prices and called the 11% per annum increase ‘‘a very broad assumption.’’ However, Player said the 11% Moodie report figure was a con- servative estimate. Player said Moodie Consul- tants’ principal Jim Moodie will be at Monday night’s school board meeting to answer any questions about his report.
