The rich Eastern influences that splashed on the scene last fall are still gaining momentum. Indian prints and jewelry are cropping up in both haute couture and ready- thousands of years of skill. It is no wonder the Western fashion world admires and emulates it. The most evident manifestations of this Eastern influence are in sarongs — usually for evening — and in gold shoes, the accessory of the season. A close second in popularity to the gold of the Far East is lace, especially black tace. Many pat- terns are mixed unconventionally; stripes with florals and florals with houndstooth.
