Memorial for crash victims THE MAGNITUDE of tragedy in Sunday’s Air India Flight 182 crash has an inten- sity that cannot be borne alone, says: Rev. Don Robertson. By TIMOTHY RENSHAW The minister for Hightands United Church in Edgemont Village, believes people, regardless of connection with the tragedy, need some ex- planation, some communal shock therapy to help digest the horror. .. For this reason, Robertson is holding a:memorial service. in the Highlands , United © Church chapel on Wednes- day from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. “The purpose of the memorial,’’ he says, ‘‘is to recognize that the 280 Cana- dians lost is a_ national tragedy and the 329 fives lost is a world tragedy. All of us, I believe, have been deeply affected and profoundly con- fused by the dimensions of the disaster. The. memorial service will give anyone who needs it a chance to reflect, a chance to share their feelings with others.” Robertson, who moved to the North Vancouver church from Kamloops four months ago, says relationships to those lost in the Boeing 747 that crashed 200 kilometres southwest of Ireland, reaches into every strata of Canadian ‘ society. “‘When something with such collective impact occurs, I think people should come together rather than try to face the horror and confu- sion alone. There is something strengthening about being with others at such a time.’” YEAR-ROUND OUTDOOR DINING At iast -somebody’s finally: done. something ‘about the weather Sit back and relax under the umbrellas of our Sidewalk Cafe, whatever the weather Our menu includes Soups, ti - Wednesday, June 26, 1985 - North Shore News Parking fines up THE RATIONALE was that it was *‘cheap’’ parking, so West Vancouver council doubled the current $5 fine for overtime parking and added another $5 to the $10 fine for other parking of- fenses.
