Dear Editor:

If we are to believe the
thrust of what is being said
and reported in the News,
the District of North Van-
couver wii! close the Premier
Street Landfill because of
complaints from a few peo-
ple living around it.

Let me point out a few
facts:

1, It makes about as much
sense, economically speak-
ing, to maintain and expand
the present landfill as pour-
ing sewage into our oceans
and destroying the fish or

rent Landfill until the in-
cinerator is built, as you

a new dimension.to the pres-
ent folly. Unpleasant as it is
to temporarily haul North
Shore garbage to Burns Bog,
it is preferable to expanding
the Premier. Street Landfill
located in a flood plain, with
the heavy rainfall we get,
and adjacent to a salmon
carrying river without im-
pervious soil conditions. To
do so would make us even

District Council will have the
courage to carry this thing
through. I can well believe
