Club of British Columbia’s

the Variety fundraising for
handicapped children. .

Hotels involved include
the Avalon Motor. Hotel,
Coach House Inn, Interna-
tional Plaza Hotel, Lynn-
wood Inn and Park Royal
Hotel.

The Avalon is featuring a
Go Bananas for Kids pro-
motion, where proceeds
from all banana cream pie
desserts sold in the dining
room and coffee shop go
towards Variety, explains
general manager Gordon
Heath. Collection cans,

International Plaza Hotel
is selling raffle tickets among
its staff, $2 each or three for
$5, raffling off a trip for two
to Seattle to the Plaza’s
sister hotel Camlin, and a
dinner for two in the hotel’s
Heritage Room. Manage-
ment will match all money
made, says Judi Ainsworth,
director of sales and market-
ing, and all proceeds will go
to Variety Club. The hotel
did the same promoticn last
year, raising $1100,

each put a dollar a week
towards Variety. fundraising
for the whole year, explains
Muriel Peterson, bookkeeper
for the hotel. ‘lt. may not
seem much,’ but that’s $52
from each of us. And the
Waitresses contribute some
of their tips into the cans,
and customers put money in
too.’ ;

The Coach House has put
collection cans in its restau-
rant, pub, lounge and at the
front desk, and genera}
manager Zack Bhatia says,

tion will amalgamate pro-
ceeds from hotels around the
province and present the
sum to the Variety Club in
time for the telethon Sun-
day.
