Twenty-five years ago, Larry Wickwire, a well- _known North Shore engineer and activist, placed a small ad in the North Shore News asking men interested in forming a senior men’s curl- ing club, to send him a $5 cheque — over 50 men responded. This is how the Norwest Senior Men's Curling Club got started, and it has been going strong ever since. Curling must be good for longevity because Larry is now 93 and still meets regularly with mem- bers of the club he founded. Prizes are awarded after each quarter of 10 games and bigger prizes at the bonspiels. They also have a prize for the best new play- er and the most improved player. Rinks are chosen by a draw master and one is assigned to a rink arbitrarily. All rinks are to be mixed experience and skill.
