Council unanimously
passed a resolution forward-
ed to the city by the BC.
chapter of the Council for
Canadian Unity.

“Ethink itis really imipor-
tant we send a positive mes-
sage to our fellow Canadians
in that province (Quebec),”
said Coun. Barbara Perrault.

In the unity council's
introductory letter to the city,
mention was made of the
draft being only a suggestion
and the municipality's free-
dom to change any part to
suit its “individual oudook.”

Although Coun. Stella Jo
Dean toyed with changing a
part of the resolution, it even-
tually passed unchanged.

said Dean,

It culminated with council
resolving to “send a warm
message to the people of
Quebec, telling them that
they are very much wanted
and needed as part of
Canada, a nation which will
have the capacity to grow,
evolve and change in order to

in all of its varied and differ-
