But working at home is the hot- test trend in business today, with every imaginable type of business being operated out of the homes of Canada. The Home-Based Business and Opportunities Show will give a glimpse into : the world of the home entrepreneur. Negotiating a learned skill IN DAILY living we are often faced with having to resolve con- flicts with difficult people. Achieving success requires good communication and an under- standing of the basics of negotia- tions. **Negotiation is something any- one can learn to do well,” says Dr. Cam Ellison, a Vancouver conflict resolution expert. “‘People tend to think of negotiating as overpowering the other person, that it is a win or lose proposal. “This makes for a lot of discomfort and misunderstanding, and both sides lose. In fact, a good negotiation should leave both sides happy with both the process and the results,” says Ellison. During the B.C. Home-Based Business and Opportunities Show, Ellison will present two workshops which will provide show attendees with the tools they need to nego- tiate more effectively in all areas of their lives. How to Deal With Difficult People and Effective Communica- tion In Business And At Home will be presented during the four-day event. These workshops will emphasize the value of using interest-based negotiating techniques to produce true win-win results. Participants will have an oppor- tunity to try these techniques for themselves, as well as learn about them. Ellison provides mediation ser- vices in family, commercial and estate disputes; assists groups in decision-making and conflict reso- lution; and provides training.
