With teams competing from ali over the Lower Mainland the competition leved was high. Jack Lonsdale Canadians came up with one of the strongest per- formances ky a North Shore team. The Canadians, who lost a close 3-2 decision im the final game to Meridian Arins, were represented on the tournament all-star (cam by pitcher Don Moberg, second bavemean Bil Lawson and owifielder Steve Wilcox. Qnce again the Jeck Lonsdale Canadiaus closed the gap between them and the Lynnwood Inn for first place by defeating the Inn in their final meeting of the regulur season. Scott Bisney crushed a home-run for Queens Cross, but unfor- tumately it was a lost cause as Bowen Island defeated the Cross 5-3. The Lynnwoed Yics made it a double-losing day for the Cross as they downed them 5-0, led by the strong pitching performance of Loasie Metcalf. Campbell said,‘‘It was just like magic.”’ Thirteen teams of 11- and 12- year-old girls from B.C. par- ticipated in the provincial champi- onship. The North Shore team defeated Coquitlam 20-11, Bumaby 10-7, Kelowna 7-1, North Delta 23-11, Abbotsford 15-13 and, in three tight games against eventual run- ner-up Chemainus, the North Shore won 7-6, ost 10-7 and, in the heart-stopping championship final, squeaked by 12-11. Ce-coach Ken Schmidt said tremendous hitting and fielding was displayed by Teresa Campbell, Tasnim Nathoo, Colleen Meir, Heather Pierce, Anya Brox, Shan- non Samler, Shannon Baillie, Bree Wellwood, and Evia Stovman. Head coach Sherri Dunn em- phasized a fun and learning at- mosphere for the team, which has proved a winning Dudette for- mula.
