Van karate instructor returns from Angeles NORTH VANCOUVER karate instructor Roman Terlecki is back from Los Angeles after-an eight- month stint of teaching, and is Starting up classes locally again. “It was great,’’ the fifth-degree black belt instructor said of his teaching Los Angeles businessmen and movie industry stuntmen and professionals. “I picked up many new ideas. Working with the stuntmen helped me as much as it helped them,”’ he explained. One of only about six instructors of his level in British Columbia, Terlecki has started twice-weekly classes again at the Delbrook Community Centre. " Emphasizing speed, stretigth, agility and mental discipline, Terlecki’s style of karate is perfect for getting in shape. ‘‘You might as well get in shape and learn something of value (self-defence),”’ he explained. Terlecki’s classes are about 20 per cent women, and the instruc- tors says that karate is especially good as it teaches them valuable self-defence skills. Classes run Monday and Wed- nesday evenings.
