BEANFOT

1 Ib. Great Northern
beans

4 quarts water

1 cup sliced onion

2 Ige. cloves garlic,
unpeeled |’

1 Ib. lamb cubes, about

1-inch (or beef:

1 Ib. pork cubes, f

Bra about your beans

about l-inch |
6 pork sausage links,
about 1 Ib. ,
2 tbsp. oil
1% cups grape jelly
. 2 tsp. salt
‘4 tsp. pepper
‘A cup diced bacon

Pick over beans, wash and
place in a large saucepot.
Add water, onion and garlic.
Bring to a boil. Remove
from heat and let stand for !
hour. Bring beans to boil,
again. Reduce heat and
simmer 1 hour, until beans
are tender. Add more water
if necessary.

Meanwhile, in a large skil-
let, brown lamb, pork and
sausage in oil. Set aside.

Drain beans, reserve 1'4

. cups liquid. Stir grape jelly
With fork until smooth.

Blend in bean liquid, salt and
pepper. Add bacon.

In 3-quart casserole, alter-
nate layers of beans and
cubed meat, ending with
beans.. Top with sausage.
Place sauce over all.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30
minutes. Reduce heat to 300
degrees and bake 1 hour
longer. Spoon sauce over
sausage occasionally. Makes
8 to 10 servings.
