delightful once they have
discovered them.

No matter how much you
plan to spend, however, a
smart moye would be to buy
a complete package from a
travel agent before heading
aacross the Atlantic, or at
least book for special low air
fares, hotels and car rental.
One of the advantages of
pre-purchasing is that the
price of hotel accommoda-
tions will be about 30 per
cent less than if rooms were
rented on a day-to-day basis
while on tour.

Germany's “undiscovered
regions” may not be as well
known: as Bavaria and the
Rhine Valley, but they will
afford the traveler. just as
much pleasure for, in most
cases, less money. Drive
through the medieval towns
of “The Fairytale Country”
in the Weser Hills, with their
many reminders of the
“Brothers Grimm, and take
the “Wine and Castle Road”
along the Neckar River.

Throughout Germany, the
traveler will find the
medium-priced ‘Castle
Hotels” and “Romantik
Hotels” (country inns) which
offer pleasant surroundings
for about 24 Canadian
dollars a night for a single
room with bath, including
breakfast.

Another inexpensive way
to tour Germany is by
mobile home. Many com-
panies have them for rent
complete with cooking
facilities, planned itineraries
and recommendations for
campsites. The savings here
are considerable, expecially
for families or small groups.

Horse-drawn and covered
wagon tours also are
available throughout the
country. A week’s covered
wagon tour through the
forested hills of the Allgau in
southern Germany, for in-
stance, costs Can$250 per
person and includes double-
room accommodations with
breakfasts in local inns —
and fodder for the horses.
The wagons have cooking
facilities. A stagecoach tour
in southern Bavaria costs as
little as Can$170 for three
days, including meals and
accommodations. _
