Rape suspect Gary Joseph Pastushak, 28, of 514
Alexander Street, Vancouver, was Tuesda
declared unfit to stand trial on charges of raping a
12-year-old West Vancouver girl May 21.

an, 64 charged in knifing death
A 64-year-old man has been charged with non-capital
murder in the death of Squamish resident Robert Slater,
49. RCMP sald the victim died of chest wounds allegedly
inflicted with a knife by Robert R. Strickland, also. of

Squamish. Both men were at a drinking party when the
incident occurred Friday, police said.

RCMP join in Lonsdale fire pi

North Vancouver District Fire investigators and RCMP
detectives are trying to trace the origin of an carly
morning fire Tuesday, June 7, which heavily damaged
the upper portion of a home at 3891 Lonsdale. There are
no suspects In the blaze which destroyed the home of
Kelth Reimer about 12:40 midnight police said. Damage
has been estimated ‘at $60,000. There were no injuries.

Party-goers cause $6,000 damage

West Vancouver police are coming down hard on party
crashers who apparently stormed a British Properties
home over the weekend causing £1,900 damage to a
house at 1394 Chartwell. And in North Vancouver RCMP
said juveniles tossed furniture Into a swimming pool at a
Lynn Valley home resulting In $5,000 damage. Fourteen
juveniles were arrested by RCMP following a subsequent
confrontation with police, according to reports.

testified that the suspect has:
had a history of mental
instability.

Dr. Whitman, who had
interviewed the accused on

several occasions in 1974 and
1975 said:

was seriously mentally. ill,"
the doctor said.

’ Elaborating, the psychia-
trist described how. the
patient, during a 1974
interview, spoke of having
earned $5 million that year
and planned to earn $10
million the next year. He also
said at the time he was
planning to purchase a
Mercedez Benz, the doctor
said, reading from his files.
