‘Day events abound

1889 DAYS AT SUSPENSION BRIDGE... Capilano Suspension Bridge
and Park are turning back the clock this Saturday and Sunday (June 18
and 19) to 1889. Old fashioned family activities and entertainment will be
taking place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and include. Devon the Amazing
Juggler, Janitor John and his old-time musical entertainment, and a special
appearance by Ronald McDonald.

The park is donating $1 from every admission to the Ronald McDonald
House. Children under 12 pay no admission. The Capilano Suspension
Bridge and Park is located at 3735 Capilano Rd., North Vancouver.

COHO BON VOYAGE... Celebrate Father's Day and the approaching
summer solstice at Crippen Regional Park on Bowen Istand on Sunday,
June 19. The GVRD is hosting a free Coho Bon Voyage program, featur-
ing tours of the Bowen Fish Hatchery, puppet shows, creek creature crafts
and water bug hunts. Registration is not required. Just drop-in to the his-
toric Union Steamship Company Store (a block from the Snug Cove ferry
terminal) any time between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Catch the 9:50 a.m.
ferry from Horseshoe Bay and return on the 3 p.m. ferry from Snug Cove.
Parking is limited but all attractions are within easy walking distance from
Snug Cove. For more information call GVRD Parks at 432-6359 between
8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.

BC RAIL OPEN HOUSE... In celebration of Father's Day, BC Rail is
holding an open house at the North Vancouver passenger station from
noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 19. The whole family is invited to enjoy
the festivities, including a dunk tank, Bunker C Beur, and a first-come-
first-served barbecue. The station is located at 1311 W. Ist Ave., North
Vancouver.

FATHER’S DAY CAR WASH... The North Shore Merchants’ Midget A
boys” fastball team is holding a Father's Day car wash at the Chevron sta-
tion at Mountain Highway and Ross Road in Lynn Valley on Sunday.
June 19, The car wash ruus from {l am. to 3 p.m. All proceeds from the
event will help fund the team's trip to New Brunswick in August.
