B.C. Ferries sets
new fare rates

B.C. ferries effective immedi-

The corporation is also introduc-
ing weekend pricing on its major
routes, -so people sailing between
noon on Friday.and Sunday night
will have to pay slightly more than
weekday commuters. When Friday

is a statutory holiday, the weekend .

rate will take effect at

The new tariff package expands
the seasonal fare concept intro-
duced on the major routes fast year
to all routes on the system.

This year, all routes will have at
least a {wo-season price structure,
with peak season June through
September.

The major routes between
Vancouver Island and the
Mainland, along with Horseshoe
Bay-Langdale and Saltery Bay-
Earls Cove, will continue to be
priced on the basis of three seasons
— low, shouluger and peak. A
shoulder season fare will be added
to the Port Hardy-Prince Rupert
toute but will be dropped from the
Comox-Poweil River service.

The adult passenger fare for the

increase by $.25 to $6.25, year-
round, The low-season weekday
fare for a passenger vehicie will
rise by $.75 to $19.75, with a week-
end rate of $20.75.

The shoulder season vehicle fare
rises by $.75 to $22.25, $23.25 on
the weekend. While the peak sea-
son vehicle fare is up $2.25 to
$24.75. $26 on the weekend, the
passenger fare stays the same.

On major routes. oversize pas-
senger vehicles, such as campers
and motor-homes, will pay from
$30.75 on low-season weekdays to
$40.50 on peak, season weekends,

recall to fix
airbag sensor

NISSAN CANADA is conducting
a voluntary recall of all 1992 and
some early 1993 Maxima sedans to
replace an airbag sensor.

The recall of 6,400 cars in
Canada is part of a larger recall
which will also involve some
65,000 Maximas in the U.S,

Maxima airbag system is not defec-

- while reducing the risk and poten-
tial repair costs involved if an
