many years ago and 1 had it ©

growing for several years in the
garden before it reached
Christmas tree status.

About mid-December, before
the snow falls, I dig the. tree, sav-
ing as many roots as possible, and_
pot it up in a 14-inch biack plastic
pot.

{f you are potting up-a tree,
remember to water it ard settle
the loose soil around the roots,

* leaving enough space at the top to

water it while it is in the house.

Hose off the branches to get rid -
of loose needles, dead leaves and
bugs.

A few days before Christmas we
move the tree into the house and
set the pot on a piastic drain pan
tc protect the carpet and to catch
the excess water which will run

out when we water it.

A little pea gravel in the pan
will allow the excess water to col-_
lect, evaporate and keep the hu-
