Run to raise money for LGH

AFTER A one-year absence, the
annual Run for Research is back
with a new name for 1991.

Catled the Sussex Realty Fun
Run, the event will be held Sept.
22 to raise money for the Lions
Gate Hospital Foundation and the
Lions Gate Medical Research
Foundation.

The five-hilometre walk will
leave the North Shore Winter
Ciub at 8 a.m. to be followed by
the 10-kilometre runners who
leave at 8:39 a.m. There is also a
two-kilometre category for
children who must be accom-
panied by an adult.

More than 100 draw prizes wilt
be up for the winning, including a
trip for two to Las Vegas donated
by Martin Travelin Park Royal.

Prize money will be awarded to
the top three male and female fin-
ishers overall as well as the top
two masters and the top junior
and juveniles. The top pledge col-
lectors will also win prizes.

Registration, which includes a
100% cotton T-shirt, costs $21
before Sept. 7, 324 before Sept.
18 and $31 for same day registra-
tion. An optional brunch on race
day costs $4.

Pledges raised by entrants will
be donated to the hospital's fund-
raising arm, the LGH Foundation,
which raises money for capital
and equipment expenditures, and
the research foundation, which
focuses primarily on raising
money for research.

Entry forms and pledge sheets
for the race, which is sanctioned
by Athletics Canada and B.C.
Road Running, can be picked up
at the following locations:
Superstar outlets; Sussex offices,
2996 Lonsdale Ave., North Van-
couver, and 2397 .Marine Dr.,
West Vancouver; the North Shore
