NV man jailed for thefts t. , a A 27-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was sentenced Tuesday in an North Vancouver provincial court to jail terms ranging from six oo, months to three years after he pleaded guilty to over a dozen crim- -e@ inal charges laid against tim in connection with a series of thefts in 5 i] North and West Vancouver. Peter Alan Barkhouse was originally charged with three counts of theft over $1,000, personating = living person and robbing another male in connection with incidents in October and November in which three pressure wasters were stolen from tool rental companies in Vancouver, West Vancouver and North Van- couver. In addition to receiving jail terms of one and three years, he was ordered to pay a total of $16,700 in compensation to the rental firms. Barkhouse was further charged with three counts of theft over $1,000 and three counts of attempted theft in connection with in- cidents in September in which outboard motors were stolen from rental boats at Fisherman’s Cove Marina in West Vancouver. He pleaded guilty to all six charges and was sentenced to a year in jail. Barkhouse also received two additional six-month jait terms after he pleaded guilty to charges of mischief and theft in connection with incidents in October in which he reported an automobile had been stolen when it hadn't, and he stole a number of tires, wheels and tools. Finally, the North Vancouver man was sentenced to a further two six-month jail terms and had his driver's licence suspended for one year after he pleaded guilty to one count of impaired driving and breaking into a North Vancouver residence. All the jail terms will be served concurrently. NV men guilty of assault TWO NORTH Vancouver men were placed on probation for one year after they were found guilty Dec. 16 in North Vancouver pro- vincial court of assaulting another male while carrying a weapon. Joseph Tan, 22, and Christopher Tan, 21, were initially charged joiatly in conneciion with a May 17 incident in which a male was assaulted. Joseph Tan was further charged with committing mischief to property worth over $1,000 after chairs and walls in Boston Pizza were struck with a knife. In addition to the probation, the Tans were ordered to perform 80 hours of community work service by April 30, 1989. Man jailed for theft A 22-YEAR-OLD Buraaby man was sentenced Dec. 14 in North Vancouver provincial court to one year in jail after he pleaded guilty to charges of theft and dangerous driving. David Robert Pranzi was originally charged with dangerous driving, two counts of theft and one count of possession of stolen property worth over $1,000 in connection with May 14 incidents in which a car stereo and amplifier and a camera bag and camera equipmeat were seized by police. Appearing before Judge J.D. Layton, Pranzl pieaded guilty to all charges except possession of stolen property, which was stayed. He was sentenced to three months in jail on the dangerous driv- ing charge and one year in jail on each of the theft charges. All jail terms will be served concurrently. In additicn, Pranzl had his driver’s licence suspended for one year and was ordered to pay ICBC $1,803 in compensation and a further $50 in compensation to one of the victims.
